Instagram takeover 24 March 2025

LANDINGS is back for 2025, and over the next few weeks we are taking over the @falmouthphotographyonline Instagram account. Landings is a collective of research clusters: Habitats, Practices of Care, Centres and Networks and Im/material Worlds; each of which is a collaboration of artists who share a cohesive methodology of visually communicating the world in which we live.

Habitats is a group of like-minded artists whose work investigates and interrogates the occupation of our planet and our impacts upon it. We work on a variety of scales, from microhabitat to global, using a range of visual vocabulary to explore our relationships with the land, other species and each other.

Today we introduce the work of Habitats collaborators Christi MacPherson, Tommy Martin and Vittore Buzzi.

Christi MacPherson

Christi MacPherson’s work is fundamentally linked to contemporary archeology and archaeological thinking; the now, the recent past and the living memory. ‘Bin Day’ is a project that distills his fascination with small stories that tell big truths about what it means to be human in this modern world. @pixelchristi

Tommy Martin

Tommy Martin’s ‘Capturing Carbon’ project investigates the science and geography of the landscape through personal connection to the remnants of British Temperate Rainforest, uncovering layers of complex, interlaced life that are the forest; seeking out repeating patterns and forms that give visible clues to the structure of life. @tommymartinphoto

Vittore Buzzi

In ‘Guerilla Plants’, Vittore Buzzi reflects upon nature and urbanization, capturing the tenacity of urban flora thriving amidst the concrete landscapes of the city; plants and trees that emerge and persist in unexpected urban crevices, alleyways, and building facades, prompting viewers to reconsider the relationship between the built environment and the natural world. @vittorebuzzi
